Number (N)ine AW06 “NOIR” Bondage Pants
From Number (N)ine’s Autumn/Winter 2006 “NOIR” collection, a heavily constructed pair of black bondage trousers reflecting Takahiro Miyashita’s shift toward tailoring, proportion, and garment construction during the season.
Where many Number (N)ine collections are immediately defined by their musical references, “NOIR” was notably restrained — built around a predominantly black and grey palette that placed greater emphasis on silhouette, layering, and technical detail.
This pair takes that approach to an extreme. The washed black body is interrupted by an extensive system of functional RiRi zippers, metal ring pulls, articulated bondage straps, hardware, and utility compartments running from the waist through the legs. Several pockets reveal contrasting red plaid flannel when opened, introducing one of Miyashita’s recurring grunge references beneath the otherwise monochromatic exterior.
Finished with Number (N)ine’s signature heart-shaped leather patch, the trousers balance punk-derived bondage construction with the considerably more refined approach that defined “NOIR.”
