IS Sport 1980s Reversible Bomber Jacket

Vintage 1980s IS Sport reversible bomber jacket, an early piece from the broader Issey Miyake universe built around transformation, utility, and the ability for a single garment to be worn in multiple configurations.

Shown here in a warm ivory technical fabric with a naturally crinkled surface, the jacket features a relaxed bomber silhouette with an oversized hood, articulated seams, ribbed cuffs and a wide ribbed hem. An oversized graphic across the back introduces bold typographic branding against the otherwise tonal construction.

The reversible construction allows the jacket to be completely inverted, changing both its surface and visual character while retaining the same generous 1980s silhouette. A particularly strong example of the functional experimentation found throughout vintage IS and Issey Miyake sportswear.

fit notes

relaxed vintage bomber silhouette with substantial volume through the body and sleeves.

ribbed hem draws the oversized body inward at the waist, creating the rounded proportion characteristic of 1980s sportswear.

care

professional specialty cleaning recommended.

due to the age, reversible construction, printed artwork, and textured technical fabric, avoid conventional machine washing unless otherwise indicated by the original care label.

store away from prolonged direct sunlight and excessive heat.

vintage condition. natural signs of age, wear, and variation may be present throughout the garment.

please review all product images for the most accurate representation of condition.

early IS pieces are a great reminder that the experimentation associated with Issey Miyake wasn't limited to runway clothing. even something as familiar as a bomber becomes an exercise in fabric, proportion, and function.

the reversible construction is the best part here. rather than treating the second side like a lining, the jacket is designed around the idea that either surface can become the exterior. add the oversized 80s proportions, crinkled technical fabric, and enormous back graphic and it becomes much more interesting than a conventional vintage bomber.

an increasingly difficult period of issey-related sportswear to find, especially in pieces with this much visual identity.
