Studio D'Artisan was established in Osaka in 1979 and became one of the key names behind the revival of traditional Japanese denim manufacturing. the label's approach has always been less about reinventing the jean than obsessively rebuilding the qualities that had gradually disappeared from mass-produced denim.

the SD-108 captures that philosophy particularly well. there isn't an obvious graphic or exaggerated design element doing the work here — the appeal is in the fabric, construction, hardware, and what happens to the indigo after years of wear.

this pair is still relatively dark, leaving much of that aging process for its next owner.
