Rental Only: Artisanal Deconstructed Simpsons Tee

"Maison Margiela, formerly Maison Martin Margiela, is a French luxury fashion house headquartered in Paris and founded in 1988 by Belgian designer Martin Margiela.[1] The house produces both haute couture-inspired artisanal collections and ready-to-wear collections, with the former influencing the designs of the latter." - Wikipedia

This one-of-a-kind piece directly exemplifies the Artisanal line, created in 2006 to create limited-quantity products made of antique materials found throughout the world. Playing into this idea, this particular shirt was made featuring a number of vintage t-shirts cut up and combined together. Additionally, there was an acid treatment to the right shoulder to add a unique visual to the overall garment. It is likely that this series of shirts (all of which are 1 of 1) is the direct inspiration for brands such as needles.jp, which have created their own take on Margiela's concept. The hem is intentionally asymmetrical and creates a beautiful drape effect when worn.

This shirt was more than likely hand created by Martin Margiela himself.
